Mindfulness Practices You Can Actually Stick To

You don’t need to meditate for an hour a day to be mindful. Mindfulness is simply the practice of paying attention on purpose — and it fits into everyday life more easily than you think.

Here are five simple practices to try:

1. One mindful breath

Before checking your phone, opening your laptop, or starting a meeting — pause. Take one full, intentional breath. That’s mindfulness.

2. Eat without scrolling

Try eating one meal a day without your phone or TV. Notice the flavors, textures, and how your body feels. Presence lives in small moments.

3. Take ‘noticing’ walks

Go for a walk and challenge yourself to notice five things you’ve never paid attention to before. It trains your awareness like a muscle.

4. Name your emotions

Instead of pushing feelings away, give them a name: “This is frustration,” or “This is worry.” Naming them creates space between you and the emotion.

5. End the day with gratitude

Write down one thing you’re thankful for before bed. It rewires your attention toward what’s good — even if it’s small.
